ALVA's members are the UK's most popular, iconic and important museums, galleries, palaces, castles, cathedrals, zoos, historic houses, heritage sites, gardens and leisure attractions.

They comprise over 2200 tourist sites, hosting over 119 million domestic and overseas visitors each year - around 28% of the visits made annually in the UK.

We represent our members to Government, media and business and lobby for support for the sector. We provide training, benchmarking and advocacy initiatives to assist our members continually improve the visitor experience.

ALVA ANNOUNCES VISITOR NUMBERS IN 2025 TO THE UK’S MOST POPULAR ATTRACTIONS SAW A RISE OF 2% -Natural History Museum is the most visited attraction in the UK -

The Association of Leading Visitor Attractions (ALVA) has released the visitor figures of its members for 2025 today (Friday, March 20, 2026) during English Tourism Week and Scottish Tourism Month. The total number of visits to 409 ALVA sites in 2025 was 165 million, which was a 2% increase on the previous year but still represented a decline of 7% on the 170 million visits in 2019 to the top ALVA sites. ALVA welcomes Government announcement of £1.5billion investment in culture, heritage, museums, galleries and libraries

ALVA welcomes Government announcement of £1.5 billion package to restore national pride. The £1.5 billion will be invested in cultural organisations over a five-year period – turning the corner on underfunding over the last decade and more. ALVA CEO Bernard Donoghue says "This is hugely welcome, it recognises the importance of culture to our communities and the vulnerable nature of many regional museums, galleries and libraries."
